It is a school in which students, staff, and parents work cooperatively to foster student learning. Cummings is known for its uniqueness, warmth, and hardworking image. We are proud of our A grade on the State's School Report card. It is because of the wonderful support from our parents long with our hard working staff that our students experience academic success. Our students strive to live the "5 C's of Cummings" every day by showing a commitment to intellectual growth through Cooperation, Creativity, Challenge, Community, and Caring. Working with parents, we work hard to develop good character and solid academic growth in all of our students.
Time for Kids Magazine Postcard BooksStudents will be bringing home postcard books to complete and earn free classroom subscriptions for Time for Kids magazine. We earn two free subscriptions for each postcard booklet returned even if no orders are placed. There is no obligation. Students who return a completed booklet by Friday, Feb. 5 will receive a prize. Cummings School Songwritten by Mrs. Denise ScottCome on in to Cummings:It's a wonderful place to be!Where we learn all dayThrough our work and play,And where the teachers' hugs are free.Come on in to Cummings:It's a place where people care.In a time of needThere's a friend indeed --There is always someone there. We learn to share in our community,And strive to improve our creativity:We try to cooperate for harmonyWe can meet any challenge --Just try us and see!Come on in to Cummings:You'll like the things you see.You can stay awhile,And you'll wear a smile --It's a wonderful place to be,Oh yes, it's Cummings for me!Student Led ConferencesA unique feature of Cummings is Student Led Conferences. Each March, students sit down with their parents for a conference to review their portfolio. They spend about 30 minutes talking about their strengths, weaknesses, goals, behavior, and social skills. These conferences, which have been conducted at Cummings since 1994, are very popular with parents, teachers and students.Michigan School Report CardThe Michigan Department of Education has issued a report card that provides an assessment of several measures of school performance. Cummings has revceived a composite grade of "A" from the state. Congratulations Cummings, keep up the good work!
